How it works

Set up once. Then every scan answers for you.

Most scanner apps give everyone the same score. ScanIn starts from your health, so the same packet of biscuits can be fine for one person and high risk for another.

1

Tell ScanIn about you

Pick your allergies, health conditions and diet from a simple list. Diabetes, blood pressure, a milk allergy, vegetarian, low sodium. It takes a minute and you never type it again.

2

Scan the barcode, or photo the label

Point your phone at a barcode while you shop. No barcode? Photograph the ingredients panel instead. Hindi labels are read too.

3

Get a score with the reasons

A clear score out of 100, a plain-language reason for every flag, and a mark on each finding that comes from your own profile.

What ScanIn does

Everything a label should have told you, in one place

Built for the Indian shelf: namkeen, biscuits, bakery items, local brands and imported packs.

Personal limits

Scores built around your health

See exactly which limit was yours and which is true for everyone. Sugar is judged against a stricter line if you have diabetes. Sodium, if you have high blood pressure.

Contains and may contain

Allergens flagged before you buy

Anything with your allergen is high risk for you, every time. "May contain" warnings are shown too, so a cross-contamination risk is never hidden in small print.

10 jurisdictions

See what other countries have banned

An additive can be legal in India and banned in the EU. ScanIn shows the regulation, the reason and the official source for every flag.

Reads Hindi labels

No barcode? Photo the label

Loose bakery items, local brands, imported packs: photograph the ingredients or nutrition panel and get the same score with the same reasons.

Whole household

One scan for everyone you shop for

Add your parents, your partner, your children. Each gets their own profile, and a single scan tells you who it is fine for and who should skip it.

A reason to come back

Your week at a glance

What you scanned, what kept coming up, and one thing to change this week. Sodium showed up seven times in namkeen? Try a lower-salt option from the same aisle.

The score, explained

Nothing hidden, nothing guessed

A score you can trust is one you can see the reasons for. Every result opens up to show how it was worked out.

  • Because of your health profilefindings that use your own, stricter limits are marked "for you"
  • True for everyonepalm oil, refined flour, flavour enhancers: industrial ingredients, not kitchen ones
  • The numbers per 100 gsugars, saturated fat, sodium and fibre against the limit that applied to you
  • Where the data came froma label photo you took, or open data credited to its source
Country rules

Legal here. Banned there.

Food rules differ by country. ScanIn checks each additive against ten jurisdictions and shows you what they decided, and why.

  • The regulation, namednot "banned in Europe" but the exact regulation number and the date it came into force
  • The reason, in plain wordswhat the regulator found and why it acted
  • A link to the official sourceso you can read it yourself, and the date ScanIn last verified it
Family

Safety for the people you love

You rarely shop for just yourself. Add the people in your household, each with their own conditions and allergies, and one scan answers for all of them.

  • A profile for each persona father with high blood pressure, a child with a nut allergy, a vegetarian partner
  • One scan, every answerwho it is fine for, who should go easy, who should skip it
  • Their details stay yourshousehold members live inside your account and are deleted with it
Honest by design

We would rather say "we don't know" than guess

Processed food should never read as safe just because the data was missing. These are the rules ScanIn is built on.

No data, no green tick

A product without an ingredient list is never called safe. A missing label is said out loud, never papered over with a score.

Your health profile stays private

Your conditions and allergies are used only to score your scans. Never sold, never shared, no advertising or tracking SDKs in the app.

Every claim carries its source

Country rules are cited to the regulation. Product facts credit Open Food Facts where used. Ingredient truth over pack claims, always.

Questions

Things people ask before they install

Is ScanIn medical advice?
No. ScanIn is an information tool. It compares what is on a product label with the health choices you enter yourself. It does not diagnose, treat or prevent any condition and is not a substitute for a doctor, dietitian or pharmacist. Always read the physical label, especially for a severe allergy.
What happens when a product has no barcode?
Take a photo of the ingredients or nutrition panel instead. ScanIn reads the label, including Hindi text, and scores it the same way. Loose bakery items, local brands and imported packs all work.
How is the risk score worked out?
Each product starts from its ingredient list and nutrition facts per 100 g. ScanIn checks them against general limits that apply to everyone, then against the stricter limits that come from your own conditions, allergies and diet. Every finding is shown with its reason, and findings that come from your profile are marked "for you".
What does ScanIn do when it has no data for a product?
It says so. A product without an ingredient list is never given a green score. You can photograph the label to get a real reading.
Is my health information private?
Your conditions, allergies and diet are used only to score your scans. ScanIn does not sell data, does not show ads and does not use advertising or tracking SDKs. You can delete your account and everything in it at any time from inside the app. See the Privacy Policy and how to delete your account.
Does ScanIn work without internet?
Products already stored on your phone can be scanned offline, and new scans are queued and synced when you are back online.
Is it free?
ScanIn is free to download and comes with free daily scans. A paid plan with a higher scan allowance will be offered through Google Play and the App Store; prices are always shown before you confirm.
ScanIn is not medical advice. It is an information tool. It does not diagnose, treat or prevent any condition and is not a substitute for a doctor, dietitian or pharmacist. Product formulations change and label data can be incomplete, so always read the physical product label, especially for a severe allergy.
